Dental Hygiene

While brushing and flossing are essential for oral health, professional cleanings are still necessary for a thorough, deep clean. Over time, plaque and tartar buildup can form in hard-to-reach areas, especially beneath the gums, where bacteria can cause gum disease, infections, and bone loss. Regular dental hygiene appointments ensure bacteria and buildup are properly removed, keeping your mouth healthy and preventing serious issues.

Fillings

King 27 Dental is a silver/mercury/amalgam-free practice. Although many patients have these types of fillings, they are not particularly attractive. Silver fillings can sometimes lead to fracturing over time, however composite (white) fillings can add strength to weakened teeth.  Composites are almost unnoticeable in the mouth and very strong thanks to advanced bonding techniques available.

Extractions

An extraction is when your dentist removes one or more of your teeth.  Your dentist may extract a tooth for various reasons such as, severe decay, advanced gum disease, impaction (such as wisdom teeth) or injury beyond repair.

Once your tooth is extracted, you may experience difficulty in chewing, normal jaw function and problems with your temporomandibular joints, which may affect your overall dental health. We will offer the best alternatives and replacement options to maintain overall dental health.

Root Canals

A root canal is one of the most common dental procedures is intended to save your natural tooth and prevent extraction. Dr. Viggiani will perform a root canal when the root of your tooth becomes infected. Infection of the root, if left untreated, can cause deep decay, cracks and long-term damage. If you experience tooth pain and discomfort and have trouble chewing, a root canal may be needed.

During a root canal procedure, your dentist will clean the infected part of your tooth followed by a seal in the roots and a filling.  The tooth may also require a crown to help bring it back to normal form and function.

Sealants/Preventative Resin Restorations (PRRs)

Most tooth decay occurs on the deep grooves on the surfaces of the back teeth. Depending in the depth of the grooves, we may choose to apply a sealant to these areas to protect them from decay. Sealants are very thin resin-based plastic coatings that create a more cleanable tooth surface to decrease risk of a cavity forming.
